What can you say about Dean Martin that hasn’t been said before? Yes, Dean is “relaxed,” he’s a movie star, he’s a television celebrity, he’s a nightclub sensation, he’s a social issue and, of course, he’s one of the world’s most successful recording artists. All in all, he’s an entertainment phenomenon the likes of whom emerge only a half-dozen times or so in the course of a century.
So where does that leave us? Well, it leaves us with the most important item; introducing a great album most appropriately entitled THE BEST OF DEAN MARTIN. Here, in large part, are the songs that established Dean as a leading member of the world’s reigning inner-circle of show business talents…chart-topping hits and timeless standards that, over the years, have become directly identified with the Martin voice and manner.
