While we were working on this album under a blue moon in Texas, the world lost four incredible musicians and fine human beings. On behalf of The Derailers, Dave Alvin, and Stuart Sullivan, this album is dedicated to the memory of some dear friends and influences: Austin Gospel musician A.C. Littlefield, founding member of The Bells Of Joy, Austin’s Blues Specialist T.D. Bell, drummer extraordinaire Donald Lindley, and the soulful pioneer of pedal steel guitar, Jimmy Day.
Thanks to: Dora, Sweet Baby Tiffany, Robert Reynolds, Geno Aguilera, Casey Childress, Joie Todd, Brian Willis, Pete’s Flat Top Shop, Jack Scully, Bill Giebitz – Guitar services of Austin, Freddie & Lisa Fletcher – Arlyn & Pedernalus Studios, Van Simmons, Danielle Lares, Deborah Weatherford, Michelle Glass – Bank of America, Fender Instruments, Guild Instruments, Fender Strings, Ludwig Drums, Pat Jasper – Texas Folklife Resources, Seymour Stein, Randy Miller, Lyle Preslar, Nina Guralnick, Anisha Kansal, Lisette Rioux, Lisa Lashley, Andy McLenon, Dana Gordon, Hector Contreras, Jennifer Uniack, everyone at Sire Records, Vicki Crnich, Brian and Eric at Hello!, Chris Parr and our friends at CMT, all the cool WEA Reps, Jerry Duncan, Brad Hunt, Craig Bann, Harlan Howard, Rory Lee, Johnny Graves, Will Porter, The Mavericks, Frank Calari, John Liel, The Self Righteous Bros and Dick Trickle for inspiration, and especially our family, friends and loved ones all around this great country of ours, please forgive us for anyone we forgot.
A very special thanks to Buck Owens and Jim Shaw.
We appreciate and are lifted by the kind words and applause of our families, friends and fans, as well as the tremendous efforts of all the people involved in our music. This gift, given to us so freely, is of immeasurable value. The Derailers are grateful to those who come out to see us again and again, and tell us how much they enjoy our records and live shows. This record goes out to all of you. Thanks a million for spreading the word about The Derailers to all your friends. Keep the cards, letters, and emails coming. We sure appreciate all the enthusiasm and love.
