Each decade the record industry yields one truly great artist who stands out among all others due to style, originality, creativeness and sustaining power. The main force, however, that makes such an artist come to fore is the much abused and often used term "genius," it is, at this point, that this industry of ours can collectively and unanimously agree that "genius" must be applied to Neil Diamond the artist and the composer.
In the short time that Neil has been making records he has soared rapidly to become the nation's number one male vocalist, an award bestowed upon him by the leading trade magazines. He has personally written the monumental smash for the Monkees "I'm A Believer" which is inclued in the LP amongst others.
Neil's fantastic success and rise to popularity is attributed not only to his dynamic personality as a performer but also to his ability to write for his public rather than to his public.
The compositions embodied in this LP point to that great quality of Neils' with songs such as "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," the loneliness he expresses in "The Long Way Home," a sensitive reflection to a childhood friend in "Shilo" and his discovery of delight in the solitude of darkness with "Thank The Lord For The Night Time."
I am certain you will find, in this LP, many moments of closeness with Neil Diamond who, in thanking his millions of fans for their support, has titled this album, his album, "Just For You."
