Sing a song of romance, an album-full in fact – an album of ballads old and new, exciting and sentimental!
Robert Goulet, he of the brisk good looks, masculine charm and muscular voice, admirably complies in THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF LOVE. The songs Bob has chosen for his newest collection range from the rousing You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You and Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries to such calmer considerations of the heart’s affairs as All I Do Is Dream Of You and Out Of This World. Somewhere in between, where a heart hasn’t yet found its reasons, lie appealing tunes like No Moon At All and Mean To Me.
On leave from Broadway, where he starred for two years in Lerner and Loewe’s brilliant musical “Camelot,” Bob is currently winning the hearts of ladies at his supper club engagements and (more remarkable yet) drawing bravos from their men. The Goulet magic has left its spell at the Persian Room in Manhattan’s Plaza Hotel, the Blue Room in Washington’s Shoreham Hotel, the Flamingo in Las Vegas, Miami’s Deauville and the Cocoanut Grove in Los Angeles. His relaxed style and powerful voice also has them cheering in the nation’s livingrooms for TV appearances on the Ed Sullivan, Jack Paar and Bob Hope shows, and for his enormously successful Columbia albums.
Bracketing the sides of this record are two songs that leave no doubt concerning Bob Goulet’s own sentiments about love. The opener sums them up clearly and directly – I’ll Take Romance. The concluding ballad is equally positive as Bob celebrates THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF LOVE.
