Scene 2: Exterior FRONT PORCH – NIGHT 12 – year old BRAD stands on the supper clubporch between sets, looking concerned HANK GODDARD, local guitar hero and fellow band member, walks up and places his steel-string calloused hand on BRAD’S shoulder.

HANK: Why you so down, Brad?
BRAD: (dejected) I’ve peaked.

BRAD looks into the restaurant, at the stage covered with instruments; past the footlights, into the crowd.

BRAD (CONT’D): (in awe) I’ll never beat this.

HANK: (chuckling) Well, that’s the thing about country music. There’s always a lick left unplayed, a song to be written, somethin’ else to sing about, another gig somewhere. You’ve got lots to look forward to.

BRAD: (unconvinced) I do?

HANK: Sure, now go back in there and let’s really pour our hearts out to ‘em on this second set….
