DlSCOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Commencing with The World Of The Zombies in the UK and Early Days in the US, nearly all repackages of the Zombies' Decca catalogue since their demise certainly all those on compact disc - have featured stereo remixes made by Decca staff producers without the input of the band or Ken Jones. Many of these differ considerably from the officially released mono versions in that they lack crucial overdubs and in general dissipate the feel and intent of the original mixes. Zombie Heaven is the first time all the original mono tapes have been used since they were first issued.

ENDPIECE

It was my look in those Link Cromwell days, heavy black glasses like the ones riding atop the faces of Chris White and Paul Atkinson, though I couldn't tell which Zombie was which, the mark of a truly equal group. Now that I muse on it, some three decades later, those Holly-esque frames probably mirrored my growing self-image as well, caught within a pop that wore its intelligence as well as its heart on its sleeve.

The Zombies' silvery vocalion harmonies and harp-edged keyboards and oddly syncopated rhythmic timings sounded like no other band of their era; liter-auteurs, telling tales from inside an English prism. Here in the after life.
